Way back in the month of April (April 2014) we had the pleasure of attending an annual earth day event, Broccoli Fest! While there, we caught up with an amazing group of vegan guys and found out what its really like to be young male and vegan. We got the scoop on the vegan dating scene, what vegan friendly foods work best in bedroom and even found out if non vegan girls are ever allowed on the menu. You may be surprised at their willingness to wine and cleanly dine despite the emasculating stereotypes.
Traditionally society has made it almost a taboo to be masculine and vegan simultaneously. Media, society, culture, tradition, and other external factors tell us that eating meat is part of what it means to be considered a "manly" man and that those who opt out are trading their manhood for a floral decorated apron.
"I guess its not seen as manly", said James, "A lot of people in my family are like yeah, why don't you just get a steak? And I'm like nah, I kind of want brown rice."
But, to some, vegan men come off as alluring rebels, daring to be different. How macho is it to have a man who takes a stand for what he believes in? And one who can romanticize tofu? When asked about dating these guys were full of creative ideas. Sharing kale encounters on the beach, pricy salmon dinners and tasty bedroom shenanigans. They all agree that "there is always the opportunity to get dirty" despite how clean they eat and being vegan doesn't necessarily change how they get down with their significant others. But, it does effect who they choose to get down with.
When asked would they ever kiss or taste a non vegan woman they all paused before answering, as not to offend me, and then proceeded shaking their heads no. "The taste isn't really the same," said one "Its a little different, strange" said the other.
Hold on, before all the meat eating divas begin to defend their neatly kept "pocketbooks", ladies there may be some truth to this "cleaner taste better" theory. According to Frugivore Magazine, vegan men are said to have quicker and longer lasting erections, smell better, and “TASTE” better. See, it goes both ways. This shows that the food we consume may matter more than we care to notice. The red meat and manufactured foods that we eat causes toxins in our bodies that produce body order and acidic tasting bodily secretions. Now if that has not changed your mind about your graveyard bodies what will?
Either way, the "I'm a vegan" mantra is becoming a real thing amongst all cultures. It seems its not a question of gender but more of health and personal choice. Disregard the stereotypes ladies and give a vegan guy a try. He may do things with your almond milk that you never imagined (winks).
