Here is a quick DIY deep conditioner to keep your kinks moist and strong this winter. Its simple and uses three essential oils, avocado, coconut, olive and your fav conditioner. The key is allowing the mix to remain in your hair for several hours. The easiest ways for me to deep condition for several hours are overnight, using the greenhouse method or allowing the conditioner to set while I run errands.
Now, walking around with wet hair in the winter is generally frowned upon and for that reason I would suggest not over saturating your hair and tying a satin scarf around over your plastic cap to retain warmth. Wear a wool hat if going out and try not to be outside in the cold for long. Or, just simply stick to the greenhouse overnight method lol.
So, below are the steps you'll need to achieve soft, strong and manageable hair, ready to combat that chilly winter weather. Enjoy!
Moisten your hair lightly with water from a spray bottle and evenly distribute your favorite conditioner throughout your hair. I chose GUD's Pearanormal Activity natural conditioner by Berts Bees. Its thick and creamy and leaves my hair soft and easily detangled.
In your applicator bottle, you will need one ounce of each oil and heres why:
AVACADO OIL: For its regenerative and moisturizing properties
COCONUT OIL: Rich in fatty acids that nourish and moisturize the scalp and hair
OLIVE OIL: High levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, an antioxidant important for hair growthDrench your hair and scalp in oil. Using your finger tips massage the oil throughout your scalp.
Separate your hair into small section and prepare to detangle with your denman brush or detangling tool. I like to put my hair into 5 to 7 twist for easy detangling and styling.
Cover hair with plastic cap and satin scarf to lock in warmth. Keep covered for anywhere from 5 to 24 hours. If going out feel free to throw on your favorite wig for conditioning on the go!
