We all know that cleansing our skin is a must, but what we may not realize is that different methods provides different results. The road to clear skin is not as simple as washing your face in the morning and lotion-ing up at night. It comes with a full understanding of skin type, nutritional needs, cleansing methods and moisture balance.
In the facial cleaning market, there are five skin types: dry, sensitive, oily, normal, and combination. It is important to understand what skin you're in, in order to begin finding products that work best for you. Let’s say, that you have acne prone oily skin. You would need oil free products containing acne fighting ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or sulfur. Whereas, someone with dry skin may want to steer clear of those active ingredients.
Once you understand the type of skin you have, you must be on the lookout for other issues that may be contributing to your epidermis woes. Do you have hyper pigmentation, or large pores? Do you have clogged pores, fine lines, or blemishes? Before you being purchasing your products you may want to pay closer attention to your skin and how it behaves in order to purchase items that best fit your needs.
Finding the perfect body wash, pore reducer, and night cream is great but much of the battle begins with what we put into our bodies. Nutrition plays a large part in how our skin reacts, recovers, and rejuvenates from the everyday beatings of our environment. "Superfoods" such as leafy greens, sweet potatoes, flaxseed, and nuts, to name a very small few, are believed to carry the antioxidants and vitamins needed to keep skin from drying and cracking. The elixir that seems to be essential in maintenance and recovery is none other than H20. Drinking water and staying hydrated is key in keeping your skin healthy. According to The Institute of Medicine, an adequate intake of water for men, is roughly 3 liters (about 13 cups) and the average for women is 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day, so get to drinking!
